#1 Engine oil is a major factor in the performance and service life of the engine. Always use the proper grade of oil for the lowest temperature.

 
Service Tip

#2 Check your oil on your motorcycle while the engine is warm. Engine oil cannot be properly checked while the engine is cold. Perform Oil Level Hot

 Check as follows:
1. Ride the motorcycle until the engine is at normal operating temperature
2. With the vehicle resting on the jiffy stand on level ground, allow the engine to idle for 1-2 minutes.
3. Remove and wipe off the dipstick. Insert it back with the plug pushed completely into the fill spout.
4. Remove the dipstick and note the level of the oil. Add only enough oil to bring the level to the full mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
5. Start engine and carefully check for oil leaks around the drain plug and oil filter.
